Post-doctoral and visiting scientist positions available
Positions available in the areas of molecular biology, small animal physiology, cellular biophysics, and drug discovery. Specific projects for new fellows/visiting scientists include:
- Physiology and cell biology of aquaporin water channels. Our lab has generated transgenic mouse and cell models to study aquaporin water channel function. Scientists sought with skills in mouse surgery and physiological measurements to study renal, gastrointestinal, lung, neurological and eye phenotypes, and for studies of cellular mechanisms involved in aquaporin-facilitated cell migration and proliferation.
- Drug discovery by high-throughput screening and medicinal chemistry. Our lab has developed novel assays for high-throughput screening of combinatorial compound libraries for identification of small molecule inhibitors and activators of CFTR chloride channels and inhibitors of aquaporin water channels and urea transporters. Clinical applications including antidiarrheals (CFTR inhibitors), therapy for cystic fibrosis (CFTR activators) and diuretics/anti-glaucoma therapy (aquaporin inhibitors). Scientists sought for academic drug-discovery program, including assay development, small animal testing and synthetic/medicinal chemistry.
- Novel biological applications of single particle tracking, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS), and photobleaching recovery. Scientists sought with strong background in instrument and software development for optical systems, with interest in cellular applications. Projects include macromolecule diffusion in subcellular organelles, cells and tissues in vivo; protein-protein interactions in living cells; mathematical modeling of biological diffusive and transport phenomena.
